Donor Story: Jeffrey Press

Jeffrey Press

A retired financial adviser and second-generation AFMDA donor, Jeffrey Press of Aventura, Fla., carries on his father's legacy of giving. His father, Jerome, z"l, established a joint charitable gift annuity (CGA) for each of his two children. After Jerome's passing in 2015, Jeffrey continued to receive quarterly checks as the surviving beneficiary. These gifts inspired him to give back in a meaningful way.

The tragic events of October 7, 2023, were a turning point for him. "I wanted to give back, and this made the most sense," he said. He has always admired MDA, its lifesaving ambulances, and the all-important work they do throughout Israel, making AFMDA a cause close to his heart.

For Jeffrey, supporting AFMDA aligns with his values of compassion for those affected by tragedy. He believes that CGAs are an excellent way to receive income during his lifetime while knowing the remainder will go to a meaningful cause
upon death.

Jeffrey took advantage of the qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from his IRA to maximize his impact. Because Secure Act II allows a maximum one-time transfer of $55,000 to fund a CGA, he was able to reduce his taxable income and give more than he originally thought possible. This allowed him to support Israel while benefiting from tax savings.

Through his donation, Jeffrey fights back against tragedy, contributing to something that matters: "Instead of just feeling sad or angry, this is my way to help the people of Israel."
